This vine branch was found in a traditional high-cordon vineyard in the hamlet of Espinho, Braga, Portugal. It was tenaciously clinging to life over the decades until it was cut down to be burned. It was cleaned, carved, sanded, and finished with hard wax oil to accentuate the layered growth and the color contrast between older and younger layers of wood.
